CAIRO – 11 March 2026: The Abu Dhabi Media Office announced on Wednesday that a fire at the old Abu Dhabi airport has been extinguished. The blaze broke out after debris fell from a successful interception carried out by air defense systems.

The office explained that air defenses intercepted an aerial threat in the vicinity, causing fragments to fall and ignite the fire. Authorities confirmed that the situation is now under control, though they have not yet disclosed further details regarding the extent of the damage or any potential casualties.

On Tuesday, The Bahrain Defense Force General Command announced that its air defense systems intercepted an Iranian ballistic missile. This latest interception brings the total number of Iranian missiles and drones downed by Bahraini forces to 106 since the commencement of hostilities.

Simultaneously, the Saudi Ministry of Defense reported the interception of two drones over the Empty Quarter. Officials stated the UAVs were heading toward the Shaybah oil field, a critical energy infrastructure site.

In Kuwait, the military announced that four drones were successfully destroyed by defense systems, while a fifth drone crashed in a remote area without causing immediate damage.

The UAE Ministry of Defense issued a statement confirming that its air defense units are currently engaged with a barrage of ballistic missiles launched from Iranian territory.

Reuters cited Iraqi security sources reporting that a drone crashed within the Majnoon oil field in southern Iraq. Initial reports indicate no casualties or significant damage to the facility.

On the diplomatic front, the Financial Times reported that Israel has rejected a formal request from Lebanon for a ceasefire, which was intended to provide a window for mediated negotiations.
