CAIRO - 11 March 2026: Egypt’s Drug Control Fund participates in the 69th session of the International Narcotics Control Board Meetings at the UN headquarters in Vienna, Austria, where representatives from around the world gathered.

Dr. Amr Othman, Director of the Drug Control and Treatment Fund, is leading the fund’s delegation participating in the 69th session held from March 9 to 13, 2026.

The meeting is attended by 2,000 participants, more than 110 official speakers, and a number of ministers and ambassadors from countries concerned with drug control.

The participation of the Fund's delegation, headed by Dr. Amr Othman, reflects the international and regional appreciation of the Egyptian experience in combating drug abuse as per international standards.

These efforts are reflected in the Egyptian Strategy for Combating Drug Abuse and Reducing the Risks of Substance Abuse and Addiction, which was launched under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

It also represents an extension of Egypt's leading role at the regional level in this field.

In 2025, the Fund for Combating Addiction in the Arab Republic of Egypt developed the Arab Plan for Combating Drug Abuse in cooperation with the League of Arab States.

Additionally, it provided technical support to the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf in cooperation with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime to prepare the Gulf Strategy for Combating Drugs.

The League of Arab States also adopted the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction and Substance Abuse as an Arab center to enhance and coordinate efforts aimed at confronting the drug problem at the level of Arab countries.
