On Monday, March 9, 2026, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, attended the 43rd Educational Symposium organized by the Egyptian Armed Forces at the Al-Manara International Conference Center. The event, held in observance of Martyr’s Day and the Veteran’s Day, serves as a solemn national tribute to the sacrifices made by Egypt’s military personnel in defense of the state’s sovereignty and stability.

The ceremony was attended by the nation’s top leadership, including the Speakers of the House and Senate, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, and Deputy PM for Economic Affairs Dr. Hussein Issa. Also present were General Ashraf Salem Zaher, Commander-in-Chief and Minister of Defense, and Lieutenant General Ahmed Khalifa, Chief of Staff, alongside senior military commanders and state officials.

Martyr’s Day, observed annually on March 9, commemorates the martyrdom of Lieutenant General Abdel Moneim Riad in 1969. In his address during the symposium, the President emphasized that the memory of the fallen remains the guiding light for Egypt’s ongoing development and national security efforts. The event featured documentary presentations and moving testimonies from the families of martyrs, reinforcing the bond between the Egyptian people and their Armed Forces amidst a complex regional security landscape.
