CAIRO – 9 March 2026: Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptians Abroad, Badr Abdelatty, emphasized on Monday the urgent need for concerted regional and international efforts to de-escalate tensions, prioritize political solutions, and utilize diplomacy to contain the current crisis.

During a series of telephone calls, Minister Abdelatty warned of the dangers of expanding military operations, noting that such escalations pose serious challenges to the security and stability of the entire region. He reiterated that prioritizing de-escalation is essential to prevent the Middle East from sliding into wider confrontations.

The Minister held discussions with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the United Arab Emirates; Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait; Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy; Maxime Prévot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belgium; and Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Luxembourg.

These consultations were held within the framework of ongoing coordination with regional and international partners regarding the rapidly evolving situation. The discussions focused on exchanging assessments of the latest military escalations and their potential security, economic, and political repercussions both regionally and globally.

Minister Abdelatty emphasized Egypt's categorical rejection and condemnation of any targeting of the sovereignty or security of brotherly and friendly Arab states, asserting that "the security of Arab states is indivisible." He affirmed that there is no justification for these attacks and called for their immediate cessation to prevent the region from descending into widespread chaos.

Additionally, Minister Abdelatty conveyed his sincere condolences to the State of Kuwait following the martyrdom of two members of the Kuwaiti land border security forces.

The ministers concluded by agreeing to maintain close coordination and to combine efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions. The Foreign Ministers of Italy, Belgium, and Luxembourg specifically praised Egypt’s vital role in facilitating the evacuation of their nationals and other stranded foreign citizens through Egyptian territory.
