CAIRO – 7 March 2026: In light of the information circulating on certain social media platforms and across several media outlets regarding an increase in return ticket prices from Gulf countries to Cairo, EGYPTAIR, the national carrier of Egypt, affirmed that these claims are inaccurate and do not reflect the company’s policies or practices during the exceptional circumstances currently affecting the region.

Within the framework of its national responsibility toward Egyptian citizens abroad, EGYPTAIR has implemented an operational plan to facilitate the return of Egyptians whose return bookings were cancelled from some Gulf destinations. This plan includes the operation of daily exceptional flights to a number of destinations in order to assist stranded passengers.

The company notes that the number of flights being operated remains limited, in compliance with the instructions and regulations issued by the civil aviation authorities in the concerned countries, as well as the current operational conditions in the region.

These flights primarily aim to accommodate passengers who already hold confirmed bookings on EGYPTAIR flights, enabling them to return home without any additional financial burden. Priority is therefore given to these passengers, who represent the vast majority of the available seating capacity.

Furthermore, EGYPTAIR has introduced several measures to ease the burden on travelers during this period, including waiving ticket change penalties, as part of its commitment to supporting its customers and facilitating their return in the current circumstances.

The company also clarified that the number of seats available for sale on these flights, should any remain unoccupied, is extremely limited and does not exceed 5% of the total seating capacity. These seats are priced in accordance with prevailing market rates compared to other Egyptian and international airlines. Pricing has also been impacted by the unexpected increase in insurance costs related to operational risks in areas experiencing geopolitical tensions, which are currently classified as high-risk zones. Additionally, EGYPTAIR is bearing the costs of the outbound segments of these flights without passengers.

EGYPTAIR confirmed that it will continue, as it always has, to serve as the national arm of the Egyptian state during times of crisis, and remains committed to supporting Egyptians at home and abroad while maintaining the highest standards of safety and operational efficiency.

Some media reported that t Amid the ongoing American-Israeli-Iranian war, the prices of some EgyptAir tickets have witnessed a significant increase, particularly on flights from several Gulf countries to Egypt over the past few days. This surge has raised concerns among many Egyptians living abroad who are seeking to return home in light of the current regional circumstances.
