CAIRO – 27 February 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) forecasts a significant drop in temperatures this Friday. Residents should prepare for biting cold in the early morning and late evening, with milder conditions expected during daylight hours across most of the country.
A frost warning has been issued for crops in Central Sinai, where temperatures are expected to plummet overnight.
The EMA warns of dense fog between 4:00 AM and 9:00 AM. This may significantly impact visibility on roads connecting Northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, the Suez Canal cities, Northern Upper Egypt, and Central Sinai. Commuters are advised to exercise caution during these hours.
Light to moderate rainfall is expected at intervals along the Northeastern coast. Additionally, scattered light rain may reach the Northwestern coast, Central Sinai, and Northern Lower Egypt.
Active winds are forecast across most regions. The EMA notes that these gusts will significantly increase the "wind chill" factor, making the air feel substantially colder than the recorded temperatures.
Navigation in the Red Sea, the Gulf of Suez, and the Gulf of Aqaba is expected to be disrupted due to turbulent weather conditions.
Wind Speeds: 50 to 70 km/h
Wave Heights: 2.5 to 3.5 meters
Mariners and coastal residents are urged to monitor updates and avoid maritime activities in the affected areas.
