CAIRO – 26 February 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received Mr. Terje Pilskog, CEO of the Norwegian company Scatec, and Mr. Ken Shaw, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Envision Energy, a wind turbine manufacturer, to discuss for ways of developing energy infrastructure in Egypt.

 

The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that at the outset of the meeting, the President welcomed the heads of Scatec and Envision, praising the existing cooperation between Egypt and the two companies. 

 

He underscored the Egyptian government’s commitment to attracting foreign direct investment in the renewable energy sector, particularly in light of Egypt’s competitive advantages and strategic location, which position it as a regional hub for clean energy. He added that the government places special emphasis on localizing technology and increasing the local component in major related projects.

 

Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, noted that representatives of both companies affirmed their commitment to expanding their investments in the Egyptian market, citing the country’s evolving business environment and constructive cooperation with the relevant authorities. 

 

They expressed appreciation for the support provided by the Egyptian government in renewable energy and wind turbine projects, as well as their intention to broaden partnerships in support of Egypt’s transition to a green economy and sustainable development goals. They highlighted Egypt’s competitive edge in renewable energy production and its strategic location, which enhances opportunities for exporting energy and low-carbon products.

 

The spokesperson added that the meeting reviewed ways to strengthen joint cooperation in renewable energy and green investment within the framework of the state’s strategy to attract high-quality investments and deepen partnerships with major international companies. 

 

The importance of continued collaboration in the coming phase was emphasized, as it would reinforce Egypt’s position as a leading destination for sustainability and green transformation projects, while attracting high-value-added foreign direct investment.

 

The meeting also reviewed Scatec’s plans for developing energy infrastructure in Egypt, particularly in solar power, electricity storage systems, and wind energy generation. These projects are expected to support the provision of clean and reliable energy.

 

The President reaffirmed the state’s strong commitment to localizing technology, increasing the local component in major projects, and strengthening partnerships with leading international companies to meet growing domestic and global demand for renewable energy, while securing and enhancing supply chains.

 

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly; Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy Eng. Mahmoud Esmat; Ambassador Erik Husem, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Norway to Cairo; and Mr. Mohamed Amer, Scatec’s Executive Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa region.
