CAIRO – 22 February 2026: The Egyptian National Railways (ENR) said a passenger train made minor contact with a farm tractor that illegally crossed the tracks at an undesignated point in Sharqia governorate on Sunday. No injuries were reported.

In a statement, the authority said Train No. 4409/3625 was traveling from Faqous to Al-Samaana in Sharqia governorate at around 12:50 p.m. when the driver was surprised by an unlicensed agricultural tractor crossing the railway at kilometer 1/350.

The sudden intrusion caused slight contact between the tractor and the train’s locomotive and the first carriage behind it, the authority said.

The ENR confirmed no passengers or staff were hurt and normal train operations on the line were not disrupted.

Legal action is being taken against the violator to prevent similar incidents from recurring.
