CAIRO – 18 February 2026: U.S. President Donald Trump will announce at Thursday’s Board of Peace meeting that member states have pledged more than $5 billion for reconstruction and humanitarian efforts in Gaza, according to White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt.

Leavitt added that the President will also announce that Peace Council member states have committed thousands of personnel to an international stabilization force for the region.

Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly departed for Washington on Tuesday to participate in the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council on behalf of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi. Established by President Trump, the Council serves as an international platform focused on developing sustainable solutions to regional and global conflicts, with a primary focus on the Palestinian issue.

The Prime Minister is accompanied by Dr. Badr Abdelatty, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Egyptian Expatriates.

Egypt’s participation follows an invitation from the U.S. administration, reflecting Cairo’s pivotal role in supporting regional stability and advancing a comprehensive, just peace.

The visit also underscores Egypt’s support for President Trump’s stance against the displacement of Palestinians from Gaza, as outlined in his "Twenty-Point Plan" to end the conflict. This position aligns with Egypt’s consistent policy, as does the U.S. President’s opposition to the annexation of the West Bank and his broader commitment to resolving global conflicts.

As part of the visit, Egypt is scheduled to deliver a keynote speech before the Council outlining the state’s vision on the issues raised.
