CAIRO – 18 February 2026: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Wednesday shared a Ramadan greeting message on social media, wishing everyone blessings, safety and peace.
El-Sisi extended his greetings to the Egyptian people and to the Arab and Islamic nations.
“I pray to Allah the Almighty to fill this month with mercy, blessings, and security for all, and that He may grant us peace and stability,” he added.
The president’s message comes as Muslims in Egypt and around the world welcome the sacred month with prayers and renewed hopes for unity, compassion, and prosperity.
Egypt and several other Muslim countries, including Turkey and Syria, announced that Thursday would mark the start of Ramadan after the crescent moon was not sighted on Tuesday evening.
In accordance with established Islamic practice, the beginning of lunar months is confirmed through the sighting of the crescent moon.
Meanwhile, other countries, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, announced the sighting of the Ramadan crescent there and declared Wednesday as the first day of the holy month.
