CAIRO — 17 February 2026: Foreign ministers from Egypt, Jordan, the UAE, Indonesia, Pakistan, Türkiye, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar issued a joint condemnation of Israel’s decision to designate "state land" in the occupied West Bank.
In a Tuesday statement, the group denounced the move as a grave escalation and the first of its kind since 1967.
The ministers stated that the illegal measures aim to accelerate settlement activity and entrench "so-called Israeli sovereignty" over Occupied Palestinian Territory. Such actions, they affirmed, represent a flagrant violation of international law, the Fourth Geneva Convention, and UN Security Council Resolution 2334.
The statement further noted that the decision contradicts the International Court of Justice’s advisory opinion regarding the illegality of altering the territory's demographic status. By attempting to impose a new administrative reality, the ministers argued, Israel is systematically eroding the prospects for a two-state solution and a viable Palestinian state.
The group reiterated its categorical rejection of all unilateral measures that heighten regional instability. They called on the international community to take decisive steps to ensure the inalienable rights of the Palestinian people and the establishment of an independent state on the 4 June 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
