Egypt’s intelligence chief meets Haftar in Benghazi for security talks

CAIRO - 15 February 2026: Egypt’s General Intelligence Service (GIS) Director, Major General Hassan Rashad, met with the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army (LNA), Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, in Benghazi on Sunday to discuss local and regional stability.

During the meeting, Rashad conveyed greetings from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, praising the strong bilateral relations between Egypt and Libya. The two leaders reviewed the latest security developments and emphasized the necessity of continued coordination to protect the shared interests of both nations.

Field Marshal Haftar expressed his deep appreciation for President El-Sisi and the Egyptian people. He also extended his congratulations to the Egyptian leadership ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
