CAIRO – 13 February 2026: Egypt’s Ministry of Health and Population has announced the successful completion of the first and second phases of the presidential initiative, "Our Children's Eyes, Our Future."

The program, which provides comprehensive eye screenings for primary school students, was implemented across the governorates of Gharbia, Fayoum, Sharqia, Alexandria, Qalyubia, Beni Suef, and Minya.

According to an official Ministry statement, 1,939,916 students underwent eye examinations during these initial phases. This initiative serves as a cornerstone of the Ministry's broader strategy to ensure the early detection of vision impairments and to improve overall pediatric ocular health nationwide.

As part of the clinical outcomes of the screening, 11,023 students were provided with corrective eyeglasses, 3,200 received necessary medications, and 511 students were referred to specialists for advanced examinations and medical procedures.

The Ministry explained that the initiative focuses on identifying vision problems at a young age to facilitate timely medical intervention. By addressing these issues early, the program seeks to enhance students' academic performance and improve their overall quality of life throughout their primary education.

To sustain these results, the Ministry of Health urged parents and educators to actively support students who have received treatment or eyeglasses, emphasizing that regular follow-up examinations are essential to guarantee healthy visual development.
