CAIRO – 11 February 2026: US Central Command (CENTCOM) spokesman Captain Tim Hawkins stated that a primary priority of the US military presence in the Middle East is the deterrence of ISIS, which continues to target the United States and seeks to destabilize the region through violence.
He emphasized that this objective is a core component of joint operational strategies maintained with regional allies and partners.
In media statements, Hawkins noted that the US military is at its strongest when operating alongside regional partners. He specifically highlighted the Egypt-led "Bright Star" exercises held last September in coordination with the US.
He affirmed that these joint exercises serve as clear evidence of the robust partnership between the two nations and significantly enhance interoperability, which is vital for regional stability.
Captain Hawkins concluded by reiterating that collaborating with regional allies to protect forces and maintain a strong military presence remains of paramount importance. He explained that such cooperation bolsters the collective ability to confront emerging threats and ensures long-term regional security.
