CAIRO – 11 February 2026: The Arab League Council on Wednesday affirmed its categorical rejection of any form of displacement of the Palestinian people from their land, as well as any attempts to alter the demographic composition of the Gaza Strip or the West Bank, including East Jerusalem.
The Council characterized such policies as grave violations of international law and a significant blow to the prospects for achieving a just and lasting peace.
In a resolution issued following an emergency meeting at the General Secretariat, the Council called upon the international community—specifically the UN Security Council—to implement deterrent and punitive measures against Israel. These measures are intended to halt annexation and colonial settlement plans and to end crimes that threaten regional security and stability.
The resolution also urged the President of the United States to fulfill his commitments toward supporting peace efforts by taking concrete steps to prevent the annexation of the occupied West Bank, thereby contributing to the restoration of regional stability.
In a legal context, the Council called upon the International Criminal Court (ICC) and other international judicial bodies to pursue and hold Israeli officials accountable for crimes and violations committed against the Palestinian people, their land, and their holy sites.
Furthermore, the Council condemned Israeli attacks on the Ibrahimi Mosque in the occupied city of Hebron, viewing them as an infringement on its religious and historical status. It urged the international community to uphold relevant UNESCO resolutions and take necessary measures to protect the city and its holy sites, ensuring the Ibrahimi Mosque is restored to its historical and legal status as it existed prior to the occupation.
