CAIRO - 9 February 2026: Ahmed Badawy, head of the Communications and Information Technology Committee in the House of Representatives, praised United Media Services (UMS) for its efforts in raising awareness about digital threats facing children.
During a Monday session dedicated to discussing child protection from internet hazards, Badawy specifically highlighted the drama series "Le’ba Wa Alabet Begad" (Game Got Real). He expressed appreciation for the company's role in spotlighting the dangers of digital addiction and its impact on Egyptian families.
The series, starring Ahmed Zaher, has been credited with fueling the national conversation that culminated in the recent ban on the gaming platform "Roblox." Media officials and lawmakers noted that the show’s portrayal of a family's struggle with a child's obsession with violent online games aligned with presidential directives to reject content that glorifies "thuggery" and antisocial behavior.
The session, which included several cabinet ministers and the show's lead actor, focused on drafting new legislation to regulate children's access to social media and gaming applications.
Badawy emphasized that such media productions serve as an essential partner to the state in safeguarding social values and national security.
This legislative push follows a February 4 decision by the Supreme Council for Media Regulation (SCMR) to block "Roblox" across Egypt. Officials stated the ban is part of a wider effort to curb "outlaw culture" and ensure a safer digital environment for the country's youth.
