CAIRO - 4 February 2026: Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Dr. Badr Abdel-Aty, received Wednesday a phone call from Antonio Tajani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Italy.
During the call, they discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two friendly countries and the latest developments regarding the Iranian nuclear issue.
Strengthening bilateral relations and economic cooperation
Ambassador Tamim Khallaf, the official spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that Minister Abdelatty praised the distinguished relations between the two friendly countries during the call.
He emphasized the commitment to strengthening all aspects of bilateral relations and elevating them to broader horizons. He expressed his aspiration to continue supporting economic and investment relations with Italy and enhancing trade exchange between the two countries, in addition to strengthening cooperation in the field of renewable energy.
Supporting the resumption of US-Iranian dialogue
The spokesperson added that the two ministers exchanged views on the rapidly evolving developments related to Iran. The Foreign Minister stressed the priority Egypt places on de-escalation at this critical juncture through strengthening political and diplomatic channels, thereby preventing the expansion of crises and preserving the region's security and stability.
He stressed the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to create favorable conditions for the resumption of dialogue between the United States and Iran, leading to a comprehensive and balanced agreement that takes into account the interests and concerns of all parties and contributes to strengthening security and stability at the regional and international levels.
