CAIRO – 3 February 2026: The AI platform ChatGPT experienced a widespread global outage on Tuesday, with thousands of users reporting connectivity issues on Down Detector.

OpenAI confirmed two ongoing technical problems: "elevated error rates for fine-tuning jobs" and "elevated errors for ChatGPT and Platform users."

While the service remained functional for some, many others reported slow response times, persistent error messages, or a total failure of the service to load.

According to the outage-tracking website Down Detector, ChatGPT returned to service shortly thereafter. At the peak of the disruption, more than 10,000 users reported problems with the chatbot before reports began to subside.
