CAIRO - 3 February 2026: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty hosted Tuesday Mohi El-Din Salem, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Sudan, where they both discussed the latest developments in Sudan.
 
On the sidelines of the meeting, the two ministers participated in a ceremony organized by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters.
 
The ceremony honored the members of the Egyptian medical team who participated in the Egyptian medical convoy that visited Sudan from December 20 to 27, 2025, in recognition of their humanitarian and professional efforts in supporting the Sudanese health sector.
 
During the ceremony, the Foreign Minister praised the vital role played by Egyptian medical convoys in supporting their Sudanese brothers and sisters. He emphasized that this initiative comes within the framework of the political leadership's directives to enhance humanitarian and developmental support for Sudan, and is a collaborative effort between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Immigration and Egyptian Expatriates' Affairs, and the Ministry of Health and Population.
 
The convoy included thirteen senior consultant physicians specializing in six complex surgical fields, who provided free medical and surgical services at Prince Osman Digna Referral Hospital and the Sea Ports Corporation Hospital, thus alleviating the burden on citizens and bolstering the capabilities of Sudanese healthcare institutions.
 
For his part, the Sudanese Foreign Minister expressed his sincere appreciation for the continuous Egyptian efforts in supporting the Sudanese people, praising the relief and medical role played by Egypt, and commending the high professional level of the Egyptian medical team and the quality services it provided during the convoy, stressing that these initiatives reflect the depth of the fraternal relations and historical ties that unite the two brotherly countries, and contribute to strengthening bilateral cooperation in the health field in a way that serves the interests of the two peoples.
