Egyptian Red Crescent receives Palestinian patients, wounded as Rafah Crossing re-opens

The Egyptian Red Crescent announced it has raised its level of preparedness at the Rafah border crossing, coinciding with the official reopening of the crossing from the Palestinian side for the passage of individuals. It deployed its response teams to receive patients and the wounded arriving from the Gaza Strip and to bid farewell to those who have recovered.

 

The Egyptian Red Crescent affirmed its complete readiness to provide humanitarian and medical services to the sick, wounded, and injured, and to accompany them during the crossing procedures, in preparation for receiving necessary medical care in Egyptian hospitals. This is being done in full coordination with relevant authorities, primarily the Ministries of Health and Population, and Social Solidarity.

 

The Egyptian Red Crescent also prepared to provide relief services at the two humanitarian service centers in the arrival and departure halls of the Rafah border crossing. These services include setting up safe spaces to provide psychological support for children, providing wheelchairs, and offering escort services for the sick, wounded, and elderly, as well as services to restore family links.

 

The Egyptian Red Crescent also set up a mobile humanitarian kitchen to provide hot meals, which will be distributed immediately upon the arrival and departure of Palestinian travelers, in addition to providing warm clothing and personal hygiene items.

 

In a humanitarian gesture reflecting the spirit of solidarity, the Egyptian Red Crescent welcomes Palestinian patients and the wounded with flowers and chocolates, distributes gifts to children, and bids farewell to those who have recovered with a "return package" containing blankets, personal hygiene and care supplies, and dry food rations.

 

The "Zad el-Izza" Convoys

 

The Egyptian Red Crescent continues to send its 128th "Zad el-Izza" convoy, carrying tons of comprehensive humanitarian aid, including food baskets and flour, relief and medical supplies, petroleum products, and winter supplies such as winter clothing, blankets, and tents.

 

This comes amidst a state of continuous, round-the-clock readiness to provide all forms of humanitarian support to our Palestinian brothers and sisters, within the framework of the Egyptian Red Crescent's role as the national mechanism for coordinating humanitarian aid to the Gaza Strip.
