CAIRO – 1 February 2026: Governor of Cairo Dr. Ibrahim Saber has issued strict directives to district heads to provide all necessary facilities for citizens, NGOs, and civil society organizations wishing to set up Ramadan banquets (Iftar tables) inside larg tents across the capital in anticipation of the holy month of Ramadan due to start on February 19.

The Governor emphasized that these tents will be set up free of charge to encourage charitable contributions and support the community’s role in serving citizens during the holy month.

Regulations and Requirements for Setting Up Iftar Tents

The Governor stressed that organizers must adhere to several regulations to ensure public safety. These regulations will be monitored through regular inspections by executive authorities throughout Ramadan and include:

  • Civil Protection: Ensuring all safety and civil protection equipment is available at the tent site.
  • Public Hygiene: Maintaining cleanliness in and around the tent area.
  • Traffic Flow: Ensuring that traffic is not obstructed and that public roads remain accessible to citizens.
