Egyptian lawmaker, sister injured in microbus rollover in Red Sea governorate

CAIRO – 31 January 2026: Parliament member Saja Amr and her sister were injured on Saturday evening in a microbus rollover on the Zafarana–Ras Ghareb road in the Red Sea governorate, local health authorities reported.

Ambulances were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the injured were transported to Ras Ghareb Specialized Hospital for treatment, according to the Red Sea health directorate’s emergency services.

Amr, 26, and her 16-year-old sister, Fagr, sustained bruises and abrasions to various parts of their bodies.

Amr is one of the youngest members of Egypt’s House of Representatives. She represents the Homat Al-Watan Party and was elected in the 2025 parliamentary elections.
