CAIRO – 31 January 2026: Egypt strongly condemned repeated Israeli violations of the Gaza ceasefire after the latest strikes killed dozens on Saturday.

In a statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs warned that the ongoing violations risk inflaming the situation and undermining efforts to consolidate calm and restore stability in the Gaza Strip.

The ministry said the violations come “at a time when regional and international parties are working to ensure the success of the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s plan and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803.”

“Egypt affirms that these repeated violations pose a direct threat to the political track and obstruct efforts to create a conducive environment for transition to a more stable phase in the Gaza Strip in the security and humanitarian fields,” the statement said.

Egypt called on all parties to fully uphold their responsibilities during this critical phase and to exercise maximum restraint in order to preserve the ceasefire and ensure its sustainability.

The foreign ministry also urged all sides to refrain from any actions that could undermine the current political process and to help create conditions conducive to moving toward early recovery and reconstruction.

Israeli strikes across Gaza killed at least 26 people on Saturday, according to the Palestinian health ministry in Gaza, in what was described as the deadliest day since the ceasefire took effect on 10 October.

Israel has carried out near-daily violations of the ceasefire, which was reached as part of Trump’s Gaza peace plan.

The 20-point plan, endorsed by the Security Council in November, includes provisions for the demilitarization of the enclave and the deployment of a multinational force as Israeli troops withdraw.

Since the ceasefire took effect, Israeli forces have killed more than 500 people and injured over 1,400 others, bringing the total death toll since the outbreak of the war in 2023 to more than 71,000, with over 171,000 wounded, according to the health ministry’s tally.
