CAIRO – 31 January 2026: The 57th Cairo International Book Fair has recorded an unprecedented public turnout over nine consecutive days since opening to the public.
Visitor numbers on Friday, January 30, reached approximately 807,245, bringing the total attendance to 4,592,295 so far, marking a record high compared to previous editions of the fair.
Minister of Culture Dr. Ahmed Fouad Hano stated that this exceptional level of public engagement reflects the transformation of the Cairo International Book Fair from a periodic cultural event into a unifying national platform that contributes to shaping and renewing public awareness.
He added that attracting more than 4.5 million visitors in just a few days highlights Egypt’s ability to position culture as a key pillar of sustainable development.
The minister also expressed his appreciation to the National Exhibitions and Conferences Company, the management of the Egypt International Exhibition and Convention Center, and all partners involved for their efforts in ensuring the success of the event and accommodating such a large number of visitors.
The 57th Cairo International Book Fair is being held under the patronage of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi from January 21 to February 3 at the Egypt International Exhibition and Convention Center in New Cairo. This year’s edition is held under the slogan, “Whoever stops reading for an hour falls behind for centuries.”
Romania is the guest of honor, while the fair celebrates world-renowned writer Naguib Mahfouz as its featured personality. The event offers a rich cultural and artistic program, including intellectual seminars, literary evenings, artistic performances, and activities dedicated to children and youth.
