CAIRO – 29 January 2025: A fire that broke out in several homes in Mansheyat Nasser in western Cairo overnight was brought under control, the governorate said.
While no fatalities have been reported so far, the Egyptian Red Crescent said its emergency response teams have provided first aid to several people suffering from smoke inhalation.

Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber said the blaze started in one residential building before spreading to three neighboring properties.

Civil Defense forces contained the fire and are carrying out cooling operations to prevent it from flaring up again.
Saber noted that firefighting teams used a drone for the first time during the operation to assist in controlling the blaze.

The governor ordered the formation of an engineering committee to assess the impact of the fire on the affected buildings and nearby properties.
He also directed that debris be cleared once the Public Prosecution and criminal investigation authorities complete their inspection to determine the cause of the fire.
