CAIRO - 29 JANUARY 2026: U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau marked his first visit to Egypt with a high-profile stop at the Giza Pyramids, taking in the iconic site in full tourist style, including a camel ride and a taste of sugarcane juice, a popular local drink.
Footage shared by the U.S. Embassy in Cairo captured moments from the visit, including Landau offering a friendly Arabic message, saying: “God bless Egypt and America,” a line that quickly drew wide engagement on social media.
The tour also included a visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum, where Landau viewed exhibits and artifacts showcasing Egypt’s ancient heritage, as Cairo continues to spotlight the museum as a major draw for cultural tourism.
Landau is in Egypt as part of an official African tour that also includes Ethiopia, Kenya, and Djibouti, with the U.S. Embassy describing the trip as focused on strengthening engagement with key partners, including on trade, economic ties, and regional security.
