DAVOS – 22 January 2026: US President Donald Trump is set to formally introduce his proposed Board of Peace (BoP) on the margins of the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos on Thursday, CNN reported.
The step will mark the official launch of the international body he will chair that is intended to play a role in post-war reconstruction and conflict resolution.
The initiative has drawn commitments from around 35 countries, including Egypt, out of around 50 nations that received invitations.
Delegations from participating countries are expected to take part in a signing ceremony in Davos, a senior administration official said.
The BoP is a newly established organization under Trump’s peace initiative aimed at ending the war in Gaza.
The initiative is linked to the second phase of his 20-point Gaza peace plan, endorsed by the United Nations Security Council in November. However, Trump then asserted that the board’s mandate will expand to address conflicts worldwide.
Countries that have approved to join include Israel, NATO members Turkey and Hungary, as well as Morocco, Kosovo, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Paraguay, and Vietnam.
Russia and China have not yet indicated whether they will join the initiative.
Meanwhile, Norway and Sweden have declined the invitation, and several other European countries are still considering their positions.
