PM arrives at Parliament to congratulate speaker on his new post

CAIRO - 20 January 2026: Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly paid a visit on Tuesday to the headquarters of the House of Representatives in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital, where he extended his congratulations to Counselor Hesham Badawy on assuming his new role as Speaker of the House.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by Counselor Mahmoud Fawzy, Minister of Parliamentary and Legal Affairs and Political Communication. The meeting was attended by House Deputy Speakers Dr. Assem El-Gazzar and Dr. Mohamed El-Wahsh, Secretary-General of the House Counselor Ahmed Manaa, and legal adviser to the Speaker Counselor Mohamed Abdel-Alim Kafafy.

During the visit, Dr. Madbouly conveyed his sincere wishes to Counselor Badawy for success in his national mission at the helm of Egypt’s long-standing legislative institution.

He expressed his full confidence in the Speaker’s ability to play an effective role in strengthening the House’s legislative and oversight functions, citing his distinguished career and notable contributions in senior legal and oversight positions.

The Prime Minister also expressed his pleasure at offering congratulations at the Parliament’s new headquarters, which is witnessing a full transition of operations during the current legislative term.

He stressed his aspiration to achieve the highest level of coordination between the government and the newly formed Parliament, and to strengthen channels of communication and cooperation between cabinet members and elected representatives.

Dr. Madbouly emphasized that such cooperation is essential to support the vision and aspirations of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi for stability, development and progress, in a way that serves the interests of all citizens.

For his part, Counselor Hisham Badawy welcomed the Prime Minister and expressed his appreciation for the visit and the congratulatory gesture. He affirmed that the coming period will witness full cooperation between the government and the House of Representatives, working toward a unified goal and shared national interest for the good of the country and its people.
