The talks come as part of Egypt’s intensive consultations with a wide range of international and regional partners, reflecting Cairo’s keenness to exchange views and enhance coordination on issues of mutual interest. Such efforts also aim to support cooperation and stability and consolidate balanced relations based on dialogue, mutual understanding, and the achievement of shared interests.
Minister Badr Abdelatty Saturday affirmed Egypt's deep appreciation for its bilateral relations with Bosnia and Herzegovina as well as its keenness to enhance these relations, in light of the strong historical ties between the two nations.
Abdelatty, while addressing a joint press conference with Bosnian Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković, hailed keenness of the Bosnian side to strengthen the cooperation between the two countries.
He also voiced optimism that this visit would yield fruitful results that would contribute to advancing bilateral cooperation in all fields.
Egypt was one of the first countries to offer full support to Bosnia and Herzegovina following its independence in 1992, Abdelatty said.
He added that this support has continued without interruption, whether through backing efforts to build the Bosnian state and strengthen its national institutions, or through Egypt's active participation in United Nations peacekeeping missions, reflecting Egypt’s firm and unwavering commitment to backing Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Badr Abdelatty said that Egypt’s water security, described as an "existential issue", was discussed in detail during talks with Bosnia and Herzegovina's Foreign Minister Elmedin Konaković.
In his remarks during the joint press conference, Abdelatty stated that President Sisi expressed appreciation for the US President's attention to the Nile water issue, noting recognition of the river as Egypt’s lifeline.
He said that Egypt continues to stress constructive cooperation with Nile Basin countries in accordance with international law.
Additionally, Abdelatty affirmed that Egypt’s engagement with Nile Basin states is based on principles such as prior notification and avoiding harm, adding that this approach reflects the consistent Egyptian position on regional water issues.
He also noted that the Nile Basin receives vast water resources annually, stating that the challenge lies in proper management and development, rather than scarcity, which could lead to improved benefits for all parties.
