Friday's Weather: Very Cold with Dense Fog

CAIRO – 16 January 2026: The Egyptian Meteorological Authority forecasts that Friday, Jan. 16, 2026, will see dense fog from 2 a.m. to 10 a.m. across regions spanning northern Egypt to Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt and central Sinai.

The fog may transition into mist, significantly reducing horizontal visibility on some roads.

Very cold weather is expected in the early morning hours, turning milder during the day before returning to very cold temperatures at night across most of the country.

Frost is anticipated on crops in northern Upper Egypt, central Sinai and the Western Desert. Low clouds may develop over parts of Lower Egypt, Greater Cairo and the Suez Canal cities, potentially resulting in light, scattered drizzle.

The Meteorological Authority released the following expected high and low temperatures for today:

Cairo: 20°C / 12°C

Alexandria: 19°C / 12°C

Marsa Matrouh: 18°C / 9°C

Sohag: 22°C / 7°C

Qena: 23°C / 9°C

Aswan: 24°C / 9°C
