President Sisi Inaugurates Al-Aziz Al-Hakim Mosque in Muqattam, Performs Fajr Prayer

CAIRO – 16 January 29026: President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi performed the Fajr prayer at Al-Aziz Al-Hakim Mosque in the Muqattam district on Friday, marking the mosque’s official inauguration.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly, Minister of Religious Endowments Osama el-Azhari, Cairo Governor Ibrahim Saber, and Maj. Gen. Walid Aref, head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, along with several senior state officials and leaders from Al-Azhar.

The official spokesperson for the presidency stated that el-Sisi inspected the mosque immediately upon his arrival. The mosque is designed as a comprehensive religious institution and community center, featuring two event halls, a Quran memorization center, a medical clinic, and a dedicated prayer area for women.

Ambassador Mohamed el-Shenawy, the presidential spokesperson, said President el-Sisi received a briefing from Maj. Gen. Walid Aref regarding the construction work. The project is part of a national plan by the Ministry of Religious Endowments to renovate, maintain, and furnish mosques across the country.

The spokesperson added that the project follows presidential directives to modernize Egypt’s religious infrastructure to ensure mosques can fulfill their mission of promoting moral values and national stability.

Following the prayer, el-Azhari delivered a sermon commemorating Isra and Mi’raj. He discussed the lessons of the Prophet’s Night Journey and Ascension, extending congratulations to the president, the Egyptian people, and the wider Islamic world.
