CAIRO – 14 January 2026: The Palestinian factions and political forces meeting in Cairo on Wednesday issued a joint statement affirming their full commitment to the continued implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the remaining phases of President Trump's plan.
The factions noted that the meeting was convened at the invitation of Egypt, under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
They highlighted that this gathering serves as a continuation of the mediation efforts led by Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey to finalize a ceasefire in accordance with the framework proposed by U.S. President Trump and to address the catastrophic humanitarian repercussions of the war.
The participants reached a consensus on the following points:
1- The factions commend the intensive efforts of President Trump and the mediators (Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey) to support the Palestinian people and alleviate their suffering. The factions emphasize their full commitment to the ongoing implementation of the ceasefire agreement and the subsequent phases of the Trump administration’s plan.
2- The participants support the mediators’ proposal to form a ‘Palestinian National Transitional Committee’ to administer the Gaza Strip. They underscored the need to create a conducive environment for the Committee to immediately assume its responsibilities, including the management of daily civilian life and essential services.
This will be conducted in cooperation with the ‘Peace Council’ and its International Executive Committee, which are tasked with overseeing and implementing reconstruction efforts.
3- The factions call upon the ‘Peace Council’, in coordination with international mediators, to exert pressure on Israel to halt its aggression, open all border crossings, and facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid to all regions of Gaza.
They further demand the withdrawal of Israeli forces to restore lasting stability and normalcy, which are essential prerequisites for early recovery and reconstruction.
4- The factions remain committed to unifying Palestinian political positions to navigate the current crisis.
They seek to strengthen the unity of the Palestinian political system and safeguard independent national decision-making. The statement also emphasized the need to confront West Bank annexation plans, settlement expansion, and violations against religious sites in Jerusalem, while reaffirming the fundamental right to an independent Palestinian state.
In conclusion, the factions expressed their gratitude to Egypt, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, and the regional mediators for their steadfast support of the Palestinian cause.
