DOHA – 14 January 2026: Some US military personnel stationed at America’s Al Udeid military base in Qatar have been advised to leave the facility by Wednesday evening, diplomatic sources told Reuters.
The move comes amid heightened regional tensions linked to US-Iran relations.
US and Qatari authorities have not issued official statements confirming the advisory with Washington warning that it could take action to protect anti-government demonstrators in Iran.
US President Donald Trump on Tuesday urged Iranian civilians to keep protesting, saying “help is on its way.”
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have cautioned neighboring countries that US military facilities in the region could be targeted if Iran is attacked.
Al Udeid Air Base is the largest U.S. military installation in the Middle East and serves as a critical hub for American operations across the region.
Iran targeted the Al Udeid base in June last year after the US carried out strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities earlier in the month. The Iranian missile attack caused no casualties, with Tehran giving prior notice to Washington.
