CAIRO – 12 January 2026: Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to "effective and fruitful cooperation" with the House of Representatives following the election of Counselor Hesham Badawy as the new Speaker of the House.

In an official statement issued shortly after the parliamentary vote, the Prime Minister extended his congratulations to Counselor Badawy, wishing him success in leading the nation’s legislative body during the 2026–2031 term.

He also congratulated Mohamed al-Wahsh and Assem al-Gazzar on becoming the undersecretaries of the House.

Strengthening Legislative-Executive Ties

Madbouly emphasized that the coming period requires a high level of coordination between the executive and legislative branches to address national challenges and fulfill the aspirations of the Egyptian people. He noted that the government is fully prepared to engage with the House on all legislative drafts and oversight matters to ensure the stability and progress of the "New Republic."

"The government looks forward to a constructive partnership with the House of Representatives, characterized by a shared vision for development and the public interest," the Prime Minister stated. He added that the cabinet is committed to attending parliamentary sessions and committee meetings to provide necessary data and respond to the inquiries of representatives.

A Unified Vision for Development

The Prime Minister’s message comes at a pivotal moment as Egypt embarks on a fresh legislative cycle. Madbouly highlighted that the legislative agenda for 2026 will focus on key economic reforms, social protection programs, and the continued implementation of national mega-projects.

By fostering a transparent and collaborative relationship with the Parliament, the government aims to accelerate the passage of laws that stimulate investment, enhance public services, and lower the cost of living for citizens.

Counselor Hesham Badawy, who was elected earlier today with an overwhelming majority of 521 votes, responded by acknowledging the Prime Minister’s message, affirming that the House will work hand-in-hand with the government to uphold the constitution and serve the nation's best interests.
