The National Food Safety Authority issued a warning Wednesday regarding the precautionary withdrawal of a limited number of batches of certain infant formula products.
The authority said it is withdrawing specific batches of infant formula manufactured by Nestlé following an official notification from Nestlé Egypt regarding a voluntary precautionary recall.
The products subject to the precautionary withdrawal are:

The authority explained that the reason for the withdrawal is that traces of cereulide, a byproduct of Bacillus cereus bacteria, were detected in one of the primary ingredients — arachidonic acid oil (ARA) — used in manufacturing. Exposure to this substance may cause severe nausea and vomiting, especially in children.
The authority announced several actions, including:
- Implementing an immediate precautionary withdrawal of the affected batches, effective Jan. 7, 2026.
- Continuing the withdrawal process in coordination with Nestlé.
- Requiring suppliers and distributors to immediately cease distributing products bearing the listed batch numbers.
The statement also listed recommendations for consumers:
- Check the batch numbers on the packaging.
- If the product information matches the listed batches, discontinue use immediately and dispose of the product safely.
- Follow instructions issued through the authority’s official channels.
The National Food Safety Authority said this measure is a proactive precaution to protect the health and safety of consumers, especially children.
