CAIRO – 31 December 2025: The Ministry of Labor announced the issuance of a decree specifying the religious holidays entitled to Christian employees governed by the Labor Law.

Under the decree, Coptic Orthodox workers are entitled to paid holidays on Christmas, Eid Al-Ghetas (Epiphany), Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Easter.

Meanwhile, Coptic Catholic and Protestant workers are entitled to holidays on New Year’s Day, Christmas, and Easter. They will also be allowed to arrive late at 10:00 a.m. on Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, and Epiphany.

The decree, issued by Minister Mohamed Gobran, aims to “reinforce the principles of citizenship and equality, respect religious specificity, and ensure stability within the work environment.”

The decision is to be published in the Official Gazette and takes effect the day after publication.
