CAIRO – 26 December 2025: Egypt affirmed Friday that it is closely following the latest developments in Yemen. In a statement, the government expressed appreciation for efforts to de-escalate the situation and prevent further deterioration, noting such moves would positively impact regional security and stability.
Egypt reaffirmed its unwavering support for the legitimate government of Yemen and its commitment to the nation’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The statement emphasized the necessity of preserving state institutions and safeguarding the resources of the Yemeni people to pave the way for stability and ensure freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
Cairo stated that it relies on regional efforts to support de-escalation and reduce tensions, contributing to progress toward a comprehensive settlement that fulfills the aspirations of the Yemeni people for security, development, and prosperity.
In a phone call between Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty and his Yemeni counterpart, Shayea Al-Zindani, the two discussed the current situation and efforts led by Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates to achieve security.
Abdelatty reiterated Egypt's support for the recent agreement concerning the exchange of prisoners and detainees in Yemen, calling it a positive step toward creating a conducive environment for resuming the political settlement process.
