CAIRO – 23 December 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty praised in a phone call on Tuesday with his Saudi counterpart Prince Faisal bin Farhan the growing Egyptian–Saudi relations and the close coordination at various levels.
The phone call came within the framework of collaboration between the two sisterly countries on ways to strengthen ties and address regional issues of mutual concern.
Abdelatty expressed keenness to continue joint work in the coming period and to complete preparations for convening the first meeting of the Egyptian–Saudi Supreme Coordination Council, in a manner that reflects the depth of the strategic partnership between the two countries and contributes to supporting regional stability and safeguarding shared Arab interests.
The call also addressed developments in the Gaza Strip, during which the top diplomat reviewed Egypt’s ongoing efforts to consolidate the ceasefire and ensure its sustainability, as well as to push forward the implementation of the entitlements of the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump’s plan.
He stressed the importance of moving to the arrangements of the subsequent phase, including the formation of a temporary Palestinian technocratic committee to manage the daily affairs of the Gaza Strip, paving the way for the Palestinian Authority to resume its full role in the enclave.
In this context, the foreign minister underscored the necessity of ensuring the regular flow of humanitarian aid and creating the appropriate environment to launch the early recovery and reconstruction process, while emphasizing Egypt’s rejection of any practices that could undermine the unity of Palestinian territories or impose a new fait accompli in the West Bank.
The call further discussed developments in war-torn Sudan, where the two ministers stressed the importance of continuing coordination within the framework of the Quartet mechanism to push toward reaching a comprehensive ceasefire.
Abdelatty highlighted the importance of providing safe havens and humanitarian corridors to ensure the unobstructed delivery of humanitarian assistance, reaffirming Egypt’s firm position in support of Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, stability and the preservation of its national institutions.
At the conclusion of the conversation, both sides emphasized their commitment to maintaining close coordination in the coming period, in a way that contributes to supporting regional stability and strengthening joint Arab action in confronting current regional challenges.
