CAIRO – 20 December 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty received Mr. Jean-Claude Gakosso, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Congo, to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations and enhance coordination on African issues of mutual interest.

The meeting focused on boosting economic, trade, and investment cooperation between the two countries, with the aim of advancing shared interests. Abdelatty stressed the importance of expanding trade exchange and continuing cooperation across various fields, particularly in training and capacity building.

The foreign minister underscored Egypt’s keenness to support economic cooperation with the Republic of Congo, especially in the areas of investment and trade. He highlighted the interest of Egyptian companies—drawing on their extensive experience in infrastructure, energy, transportation, and construction—in participating in development projects in Congo. He also emphasized the need to foster an attractive investment climate and remove obstacles hindering trade exchange.

On regional and multilateral cooperation, Abdelatty stressed the importance of coordination and joint consultation on African issues, particularly regarding the institutional reform of African Union bodies. He noted that such reform is a key pillar for enhancing the efficiency of these institutions and enabling them to carry out their mandates effectively. He added that the reform process should be systematic, gradual, transparent, and inclusive, with the participation of all member states.

The meeting also included an exchange of views on major regional issues of common concern, notably developments in the Sahel and the Great Lakes regions. Both sides affirmed their commitment to continued coordination and consultation on regional and international matters, as well as to strengthening cooperation in development and security to support regional stability.
