CAIRO – 19 December 2025: Winter is knocking on the door, and Egypt’s meteorologists are forecasting a further dip in temperatures over the coming days, particularly during early mornings and nighttime hours across much of the country.
In Cairo and the Nile Delta, daytime highs are expected to range between 20 and 22 degrees Celsius, with nighttime lows dropping to 10–13 degrees, according to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA).
New urban communities around the capital could feel even colder, with lows dipping to 8–9 degrees.
Along the North Coast, temperatures will hover around 19–20 degrees during the day and fall to 10–11 at night, so if Alexandria is on your weekend plans, it might be wise to bring along a heavy jacket.
Southern Upper Egypt, including the ever-charming Luxor and Aswan, will stay relatively warm, with daytime highs between 25 and 28 degrees, while nighttime temperatures settle around 11–12.
In northern Upper Egypt, covering areas such as Fayoum and Beni Suef, highs will range from 21 to 23 degrees, with chilly lows of 7–8.
Central Sinai will be the coldest spot, with nighttime temperatures expected to drop to 4–7 degrees, not great news for winter haters.
Love it or loathe it, winter officially arrives on Sunday and will be staying for nearly three months. So, grab a hot chocolate, pull on a furry jacket, and enjoy the season.
