CAIRO – 17 December 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs Badr Abdelatty underlined the importance of ensuring the sustainability of the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and implementing the requirements of the second phase of US President Donald Trump's plan, which would contribute to consolidating the truce.

This came during a phone call on Wednesday between Abdelatty and his Slovak counterpart Juraj Blanár within the framework of ongoing consultations and coordination between the two countries on ways to strengthen bilateral relations and exchange views on regional and international issues of common interest.

During the call, Abdelatty expressed appreciation for the remarkable development witnessed in bilateral relations in recent years, reflecting the shared political will to propel bilateral cooperation to broader horizons.

He also discussed ways to enhance relations in all priority areas for both countries.

The top diplomat also expressed his hope to build upon the bilateral political consultations held in December 2024, emphasizing the importance of maintaining this positive momentum by intensifying economic, trade, and investment cooperation and encouraging further partnerships between private sector institutions in both countries.

This, he stressed, would serve mutual interests and support development goals.

The two ministers exchanged views on regional issues of common concern, particularly the recent developments in the Gaza Strip.

In this context, the foreign minister emphasized the necessity of fully implementing UN Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2803 and expediting the deployment of the international stabilization force to monitor the ceasefire, protect civilians, and create a safe environment within the Gaza Strip.

He stressed the importance of ensuring the unimpeded and adequate delivery of humanitarian aid and supporting early recovery and reconstruction efforts.

This would contribute to improving the living conditions of Palestinians and enable the Palestinian Authority to resume its responsibilities in the Gaza Strip, within a comprehensive framework that preserves the unity of the Palestinian territory and supports the political process aimed at achieving a just and comprehensive peace in accordance with international resolutions, according to Abdelatty.
