Egypt and IAEA Call: Cooperation and Iran Nuke File

CAIRO - 16 December 2025: Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Atty and the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Rafael Grossi, held a telephone conversation focused on boosting nuclear cooperation and tackling the complexities of the Iranian nuclear file.

The Minister praised the IAEA's pivotal verification role under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), signaling Cairo's continued commitment to working closely with the nuclear watchdog.

Regarding Iran, Abdel Atty stressed the necessity of building confidence to allow for sustained cooperation between Tehran and the IAEA. 

He said these efforts are the only way to create a genuine opportunity for diplomatic solutions, restart dialogue, and achieve a comprehensive agreement that respects the interests of all parties and contributes directly to regional security and stability.
