CAIRO – 15 December 2025: Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly held a meeting to discuss radical solutions to the financial challenges facing the Egyptian Radio and Television Union (Maspero) and the national newspapers, with the participation of senior officials from the media, press, finance, and tax authorities.

He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting these institutions due to their vital role in shaping public opinion and promoting cultural and social awareness.

The Prime Minister stressed that resolving the financial problems of the National Media Authority and the National Press Authority requires serious government support alongside a clear vision for reform, restructuring, good governance, and sustainable resource development, without relying on further borrowing. He noted that similar debt-resolution measures have been implemented for other entities under the condition of sound management.

During the meeting, the heads of both authorities presented steps being taken to rationalize spending, develop resources, and invest assets. The meeting also reviewed accumulated debts related to taxes, pensions, and social insurance, and discussed government proposals for repayment. At the conclusion, the Prime Minister urged the two authorities to promptly submit a comprehensive, data-driven financial reform plan, affirming the government’s flexibility and readiness to support genuine and sustainable reform of the press and media institutions.
