CAIRO – 12 December 2025: President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call today from his French counterpart President Emmanuel Macron. They discussed bilateral ties, regional issues of mutual concerns.
The official spokesperson for the Presidency stated that the President expressed his deep appreciation for the positive and qualitative development witnessed in Egyptian-French relations, particularly after their elevation to the level of a strategic partnership during the French President’s visit to Cairo in April 2015. This upgrade has contributed significantly to the growth of cooperation between the two countries across various fields.
Ambassador Mohamed El-Shenawy, the official spokesperson, explained that the two presidents discussed ways to further advance bilateral relations by strengthening political, economic, and investment cooperation; increasing the volume of trade, which has seen notable progress in recent months; and enhancing collaboration in the industrial, tourism, and transportation sectors.
The call also addressed the latest regional developments, particularly in the Gaza Strip. The President expressed Egypt’s appreciation for France’s support of Egyptian efforts that contributed to achieving the ceasefire agreement. He emphasized the need to solidify the ceasefire and move towards implementing the second phase of the U.S. President’s peace plan. The President also underlined the importance of expediting the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and immediately initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
For his part, President Macron expressed his appreciation for Egypt’s pivotal role in promoting regional stability, especially in consolidating the ceasefire in Gaza. The conversation additionally covered developments in the West Bank, where the President reiterated Egypt’s firm rejection of Israeli violations and stressed the need to support the Palestinian people, intensify international pressure to halt these violations, and strengthen the Palestinian Authority’s ability to meet the needs of its people. Both presidents agreed that current efforts must pave the way for launching a comprehensive political process leading to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
Regarding the situation in Sudan, the President reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, and its rejection of any attempts to undermine its security. He reiterated Egypt’s backing of efforts aimed at ending the conflict and restoring peace and stability in the brotherly nation of Sudan.
At the conclusion of the call, the two leaders exchanged New Year’s greetings, expressing their wishes for continued stability and prosperity for the people of Egypt and France.
