CAIRO – 12 December 2025: Minister of Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Egyptian Expatriates Badr Abdelatty commended Angola's efforts during its current chairmanship of the African Union, as well as the successful organization of both the III Financing Summit for Africa's Infrastructure Development and the African Union–European Union Summit.
He also praised Angola’s exemplary diplomatic activity and high-level meetings held throughout the year.
This came during Abdelatty’s meeting on Friday with Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António, as part of his official visit to Luanda.
According to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Tamim Khallaf, Abdelatty extended congratulations to his Angolan counterpart on the occasion of Angola’s 50th independence anniversary.
He underlined the growing momentum in bilateral relations, noting the positive outcomes of the Angolan President's visit to Cairo in April 2025.
The minister reaffirmed Egypt's commitment to continued cooperation and coordination on regional and international matters of mutual interest.
Abdelatty noted that he was accompanied by a delegation of Egyptian business leaders, investors, and private-sector representatives during his visit, aiming to promote Egyptian investments in Angola and explore opportunities in priority sectors that are in line with Angola’s income diversification strategy.
He stressed Egypt’s interest in collaborating on regional connectivity, transport, infrastructure, mineral resources, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, and fertilizers.
He further expressed Egyptian companies' keenness to invest in projects within the "Lobito Corridor," with plans underway to establish a consortium of Egyptian firms for its development.
The minister underlined the importance of establishing an Egyptian–Angolan Business Council and expanding cooperation in security and defense.
He reiterated Egypt’s support for Angola’s training programs through the Egyptian Agency of Partnership for Development (EAPD), covering areas such as diplomacy, energy, defense, police training, water management, healthcare, and agriculture.
The discussion also covered continental and regional issues, with Abdelatty reaffirming Egypt’s commitment to supporting peace, stability, and development in Africa.
He praised Angola’s strong support for the Palestinian cause and stressed the importance of joint coordination within the African Union Peace and Security Council.
Both ministers exchanged views on developments in Sudan, the Sahel, Somalia, the Horn of Africa, the Red Sea, and the Great Lakes region.
Both sides agreed to continue coordination on Angola’s leadership of the African peace and reconciliation file, alongside Egypt’s leadership on post-conflict reconstruction and development.
