The “Zad Al-Ezza… From Egypt to Gaza” convoy, launched by the Egyptian Red Crescent in late July, carries thousands of tons of food supplies, baby formula, medical items, medicines, personal-care products and fuel.
The Egyptian Red Crescent has coordinated aid into Gaza since the beginning of the Israeli offensive in October 2023, keeping Rafah operational and deploying 35,000 volunteers.
Israel closed Gaza’s crossings on March 2 after the first phase of a truce ended and later restricted entry of aid, fuel and heavy machinery. Deliveries resumed in May under an Israeli security mechanism criticized by UNRWA.
Israel announced a 10-hour humanitarian pause on July 27, 2025 to facilitate aid. A first-phase ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel was reached on Oct. 9, 2025 under a plan brokered in Sharm El-Sheikh with Egyptian, US, Qatari and Turkish mediation.
