A distressed vessel discovered by the US Navy - FILE
CAIRO – 6 December 2025: Eighteen migrants died after their vessel capsized off a small Greek island, a coast guard official said on Saturday, according to Reuters.
Meanwhile, two people were pulled from the water alive.
The official said the boat overturned about 40 km south of the island of Chrysi, near Crete.
A Turkish cargo ship first spotted the distressed vessel and alerted Greek authorities. The two survivors were being transferred to Crete.
