CAIRO - 4 December 2025: Hadayek Company, the developer, manager, and operator of the Giza Zoo and Orman Botanical Garden, has unveiled an ambitious plan to boost biodiversity across the site following the completion of its redevelopment project.

Mohamed Kamel, Chairman of the Board of Directors, announced that the plan includes introducing 118 new animal species from various countries to enrich the existing collection.

He added that the new arrivals feature four lions and three tigers—making their debut at the zoo—alongside 362 additional animals. Kamel emphasized the importance of providing suitable, open habitats tailored to each species.

The plan also involves merging surrounding areas to create an expansive green space. Kamel explained that the Giza Zoo spans 86 acres, while the Orman Botanical Garden covers 28 acres. The two sites have been integrated and are now treated as a natural extension of one another, forming a vast, unified ecosystem that elevates both their environmental and recreational value. He noted that this integration offers visitors a richer and more diverse experience within the largest open green space in the heart of Giza. The new design, he added, aims to transform traditional viewing into an interactive and comfortable experience aligned with international standards.

International Recognition and Preservation of Heritage

Kamel also highlighted that the project underwent a comprehensive review by a representative of the African Union, whose feedback affirmed that the development aligns with global best practices in zoo management and operation.

He stressed that Hadayek Company remains deeply committed to preserving the site’s historical and architectural identity, adding that the redevelopment aims to restore the gardens to their regional and international prominence as leading recreational and educational landmarks.
