CAIRO - 24 November 2025: As the second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections kicked off today, Monday, November 24, high-profile parliamentary leaders from both the House of Representatives and the Senate cast their ballots, sending a decisive message about the importance of civic duty and the democratic process.

The prominent and early presence of senior political figures in the polling stations underscored a crucial message: Voting is the fundamental step to safeguarding popular will and supporting Egypt's democratic path. Their participation served as a powerful call for every citizen to engage actively in selecting their representatives to ensure a parliament capable of confidently driving national development.

Counselor Hanafy El Gebali, Speaker of the House of Representatives, cast his vote at his designated polling station in the Mustafa Kamel Preparatory School for Boys in the Nozha Division, Cairo Governorate.

El Gebali emphasized that active participation in elections is a national duty and a fundamental constitutional right for every eligible citizen. He stressed that a high voter turnout will ensure the election of members truly capable of representing the Egyptian people under the Parliament’s dome, reflecting their hopes and aspirations, and prioritizing the supreme national interest.

"Democracy begins inside the polling station," stated El Gebali, urging the great Egyptian people to head to the ballot boxes to choose their representatives with a free will, driven by pure national conscience.

He expressed his complete confidence in the awareness of Egyptians regarding their national responsibility and lauded the efforts of the National Election Authority (NEA) for ensuring integrity and transparency throughout the electoral process. The Speaker also extended his appreciation to the Ministry of Interior for taking maximum preparedness to secure the elections and ensure the smooth running of all polling stations.

Counselor Essam Farid, President of the Senate, also cast his vote this morning at his electoral committee headquarters in Muhammad Amin Al-Rai School in Maadi.

Counselor Farid called on the Egyptian populace to participate heavily in the parliamentary elections, noting that effective participation contributes significantly to enhancing the country's stability and supporting its constitutional institutions. He reiterated his confidence in citizens' awareness of the importance of exercising their constitutional right to vote, which plays a pivotal role in strengthening the democratic trajectory.

The second and final domestic phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections began this morning and is scheduled to continue until the evening of Tuesday, November 25. Citizens are heading to the ballot boxes to choose their representatives for the new parliament.

This phase covers 13 governorates including Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahlia, Gharbia, Monufia, Kafr El Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, South Sinai, and North Sinai.

A total of 1,316 individual candidates are competing for seats across the 13 governorates, in addition to the "National List for Egypt" competing in the "Cairo, South, and Central Delta" and "East Delta" sectors.
