Egyptian expats flock to embassies, consulates to cast votes in Phase 2 of House Elections

CAIRO – 21 November 2025: Egyptian expatriates flocked to Egypt’s embassies and consulates abroad to cast their ballots in the second phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections.

Voting concluded at the first polling station to open, at the Egyptian Embassy in New Zealand, which began receiving voters at 10:00 PM on Thursday (Cairo Time) due to the 11-hour time difference. The last polling station to close will be in California, USA.

According to the National Elections Authority (NEA), voting abroad begins at 9:00 AM and continues until 9:00 PM according to the local time of each country where voting is taking place.

In the second phase of the elections, 1,316 individual candidates and one closed list are competing for House seats in 13 governorates across Cairo and the Delta, with voting held in 73 electoral constituencies.

The electoral silence period for the second phase began on Thursday, November 20, at 12:00 PM.

The first phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections inside Egypt was held on Monday and Tuesday, 10–11 November, across 14 governorates.

Judge Ahmed Bendary, Executive Director of the National Elections Authority, announced that 35,279,922 voters were eligible to vote in the first phase.

According to the announced timetable, voting in the second phase of the parliamentary elections will take place on Friday and Saturday, November 21–22, for Egyptians abroad, and on Monday and Tuesday, November 24–25, for citizens inside Egypt in the remaining 13 governorates.

This phase covers: Cairo, Qalyubia, Dakahliya, Menoufia, Gharbia, Kafr El-Sheikh, Sharqia, Damietta, Port Said, Ismailia, Suez, North Sinai, and South Sinai.

Results for this phase are scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, December 2.

If runoffs are required, Egyptians abroad will vote on December 1–2 for the first phase and December 15–16 for the second phase.

Inside Egypt, runoff voting will take place on December 3–4 for the first phase and December 17–18 for the second phase.
